Late Sunjay Kapur’s kids- Samaira and Kiaan, with ex-wife, Karisma Kapoor, are fighting a legal war against his third wife, Priya Kapur. Karisma’s kids are fighting for their rights over the estate of their late dad. The inheritance dispute matter is reportedly over Sunjay’s Rs. 30,0000 crore inheritance. It has now taken a new turn in the Delhi High Court, which has raised concerns over his widow, Priya, requesting that the details of his personal assets and liabilities be kept in a sealed manner.

A report by the PTI stated that Justice Jyoti Singh, who is hearing the matter, shared that pursuing Priya’s request would create an issue for Karisma’s children, who would want to defend their claims. Priya’s application requested that Sunjay’s personal assets list be covered in a sealed manner or to set up a ‘Confidentiality Club’ where access would be limited. Justice Jyoti did point out that there would be potential issues with this secrecy. Justice Jyoti asserted that granting permission to Priya’s application would create problems for a simple reason: as the alleged beneficiary of the estate, Karisma’s children, Samaira and Kiaan, had the complete right to question the assets disclosed. Justice Jyoti asked:
“So, tomorrow if they have to verify and go about asking what has happened, if they are bound by this confidentiality club, how will they ever defend their case?”

Justice Jyoti did state that Karisma and her kids had a full right to know about Sunjay’s personal assets and did question the Confidentiality Club thing. However, Priya’s lawyer did argue that confidentiality was important, given the sensitive nature of the information. Priya, who is being represented by Senior Advocate Shyel Trehan, reportedly revealed that during the earlier hearings, press conferences were held and the matter received a lot of attention. The counsel did ask for the bank details, and other financial details. Why should the public have someone’s bank account number?

Priya is being represented by Senior Advocate Shyel, who argued that Sunjay’s assets contain financial information that, if made public, could cause irreparable harm. Trehan also shared that there was a lot of information already out in the public domain, and could now cause a cybersecurity threat, as bank details are there. Trehan shared that all the parties will be shown the assets, but there has to be limited access. The advocate stated that no prejudice was being caused to any of the parties. However, the Delhi High Court has raised concerns and noted that the opposing party is also required to review the details equally and respond accordingly.
The court will now hear the matter on Friday. On September 10, 2025, the Delhi High Court had directed Priya to submit Sunjay’s list of assets. On one side, Karisma’s kids, Samaira and Kiaan, have asked for a share in the assets of their departed father, who has left behind an inheritance worth Rs. 30,000 crore. Priya has told the court that Karisma’s family, especially the kids, have already got assets worth Rs. 1,900 crore, which is also from the family trust.
