Javier Bardem and Mark Ruffalo have boarded All That’s Left of You, Jordan’s selection for the best international feature Oscars category, as executive producers.

Palestinian-American director Cherien Dabis’ historical drama premiered at Sundance and tells a multigenerational story of a family expelled from Jaffa in 1948. When a Palestinian teenager gets swept up into a protest in the occupied West Bank and experiences a moment of violence that rocks his family, his mother recounts the political and emotional threads that led to that fateful moment.

Spanning seven decades, the epic drama captures the hopes and heartaches of an uprooted family, revealing the scars of displacement and the unbreakable spirit of survival, according to a synopsis from the producers. “Cherien’s beautiful, intelligent and deeply moving film All That’s Left of You powerfully captures the true story of Palestine that has never been told before in a way that is both artistic and authentic,” Spanish actor Bardem said in a statement.

Watermelon Pictures and Dabis’ new production and distribution company Visibility Films will co-release All That’s Left of You. A theatrical run in Los Angeles starting Nov. 28, 2025 is planned to position the movie for awards season play. That will be followed by a release in select cities on Jan. 9, 2026, before opening nationwide.

“All That’s Left Of You is an epic, deeply human film that spans decades, capturing the Palestinian Nakba with authenticity, compassion and grace. It reminds us that even in the face of unimaginable loss, our way forward lies in empathy, in finding meaning in grief and in choosing humanity over vengeance,” Ruffalo added in his own statement.

Dabis’ third feature also screened at Telluride after the conflict in Gaza forced principal production to shift from Palestine to Cyprus, Jordan and Greece. Dabis’ two previous features, Amreeka (2009) and May in the Summer (2013), both debuted at Sundance. Amreeka went on to win the Fipresci international critics prize at Cannes.

“I’m beyond thrilled to have two people I deeply admire, Javier Bardem and Mark Ruffalo, join us in amplifying the urgency and importance of this film,” Dabis said in her own statement. “All That’s Left of You takes audiences back to 1948 — the origin of Palestinian displacement — and follows one family across nearly eight decades, shaped by political forces beyond their control. It is the untold story of how Palestinians first became refugees, and how that history led us to the present moment. To understand what’s happening in Gaza today, we must first understand the history of how we arrived here,” she added.

Besides writing and directing the film, Dabis stars alongside real-life father and sons Mohammad Bakri, Saleh Bakri and Adam Bakri. The producer credits are shared by Dabis, Thanassis Karathanos, Martin Hampel and Karim Amer. Bardem and Ruffalo executive produce alongside Geralyn Dreyfous.
