While loafers have remained a wardrobe staple and a classic shoe style for decades, searches for these shoes have increased significantly this year, with suede loafers seeing a 450 percent increase in searches in 2025.
While in New York, Holmes wore the Franco Sarto Franco Senna Lug Sole Loafer in glossy, brown tortoiseshell patent leather. The sleek loafers are also available in navy blue, dark red and black patent faux leather.

The shoes also come in biscotti brown suede and a brown speckled print suede, which is another major footwear trend for the fall and winter this year. The shoes all retail for $125. The statement-making bit loafer features a bold lug sole, a round toe and a 1.4-inch heel.
The bit loafer, which is also known as a horsebit loafer, features the classic slip-on shoe design and is characterized by a distinctive slim metal detail across the vamp. The loafers are suitable for both formal and casualwear and can be paired with tailored suits, baggy jeans or business-casual attire.
Holmes paired hers with another one of her casual and laid-back streetwear looks. The “Dawson’s Creek” alum has embraced a minimalist style over the years and is also often spotted walking around New York wearing the season’s trendiest shoes. For this outing, she paired a classic beige, round-neck, knit sweater with a loose-fitting, black satin midi skirt, and paired the loafers with crew socks in black.

She accessorized her look with a Fendi Zucca Mini Mamma Baguette in black, a dainty diamond necklace and a pair of A.P.C.’s Moe unisex square sunglasses with hazelnut brown tortoiseshell pattern, to coordinate with the shoes. The sunglasses retail for $335.
Holmes has been spotted wearing Franco Sarto recently, going for a pair of the brand’s Tinsley silver mary jane flats. Ballerina flats, booties and white sneakers are her go-to footwear style when she is out and about in New York, but for red carpet and TV appearances, she has reached for designer heels from Gianvito Rossi, Manolo Blahnik, Prada and more.
