It looks like Gwyneth Paltrow was happy to let her usual quiet luxury style speak a little louder for a night in Milan with Gucci. Stepping out among stars that included Demi Moore and Alex Consani, Paltrow committed to the house’s new artistic director Demna’s vision, donning the classic full Gucci monogram all the way down to her bold boots.
The Goop and Gwyn founder wore a pussybow blouse and a coordinating, knee-length and a-line skirt, cinched at the waist with a Gucci logo belt. Head-to-toe, she was covered in the iconic interlocking double G motif. There were some familiar Demna-isms too, like the boots: also monogrammed, but round-toed and a touch slouchy.

The Gwyneth Paltrow school of style usually keeps to an understated but super luxe aesthetic. The wellness guru will often opt for soft earthy knits, silky cowl necks, flowing suits, and barely there sandals via brands from Khaite, Michael Kors, and now her own recently relaunched Gwyn. But remember, we’re in Milan, where the glamorous, slightly eclectic Sciura style of Milanese ladies reigns supreme. And this is fashion’s chief mischief maker Demna’s debut.
Gucci’s red carpet was a star-studded affair, with la famiglia out in force in Demna’s new-era Gucci designs to watch the premiere of his film The Tiger. Joining Paltrow among them was Demi Moore, for one, who wore a brilliantly gilded and golden gown with blossoming 3D floral details.

Paltrow landed in Milan just yesterday, and her choice of bag was a sign of the more maximalist side of Paltrow that we saw later on the red carpet. Emerging from the airport in a spring suit and capri pants, she toted a bright blue Goyard bag monogrammed with her own initials, G.P.F.: Gwyneth Paltrow Falchuk. Will fall see G.P.F lean into loud and proud luxury? It’s all in a name.
