G.V. Prakash joins A.R. Rahman and Ilaiyaraaja in National Award milestone: “A blessing I cherish”
“Winning a National Award for the second time feels surreal,” G.V. Prakash said. “To be honoured again, this time for Vaathi and for my brother Dhanush, makes it all the more special.” He also expressed gratitude for the support he received from the film industry following his win. “What made it even more memorable was receiving warm wishes from legends like Shah Rukh Khan sir and Mohanlal sir. We interacted at the award ceremony, and their words meant a lot to me,” he said. The composer went on to congratulate Shah Rukh Khan on his own milestone. “I’m especially happy that Shah Rukh Khan sir received his first National Award for Best Actor for Jawan. It’s a well-deserved honour.”
Speaking about his longstanding collaboration with Dhanush, G.V. Prakash added, “My bond with Dhanush goes beyond just cinema. He brings out the best in me as a composer, and Vaathi is proof of that. I’m also thrilled to be working on his directorial project Idli Kadai.”
He further noted the significance of joining a select group of composers who have received National Awards for both songs and background scores. “To be the only composer after A.R. Rahman sir and Ilaiyaraaja sir to achieve this is something I truly cherish. This recognition motivates me to keep pushing the boundaries of music,” he concluded.
