A statue depicting US President Donald Trump and the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein holding hands has appeared on the National Mall in Washington, DC. The 12-foot installation, made of foam, resin, wood, and wire, is the latest public display connected to ongoing interest in the Epstein Files saga and the relationship between the two men. The artwork includes three plaques, two featuring excerpts from a birthday letter Trump allegedly wrote to Epstein.
The statue was unveiled early Tuesday morning to mark Friendship Month and will remain at its location until Saturday, according to The Secret Handshake, the anonymous group responsible for the installation. A spokesperson for the group said the statue is about “celebrating the friendship of these real men.” The installation places Trump and Epstein on pedestals, depicted as smiling and holding hands while appearing to walk toward the Washington Monument.
Below the sculpture, the plaques include portions from a letter Trump allegedly sent to Epstein for his 50th birthday, which was made public by the House Oversight Committee this month. The letter reportedly features a hand-drawn figure of a naked woman and the president’s signature. Trump has denied involvement with the letter, stating that “no authentic letter or drawing exists.” He has also filed a $10 billion lawsuit against the Wall Street Journal, which first reported on the letter.
The Secret Handshake group, said to include fewer than five individuals, has remained largely anonymous. When asked about their intent, a spokesperson stated that the statue was created for “celebrating the friendship of these real men.” The organization has not revealed additional details about its members or specific motivations beyond marking Friendship Month.
The White House issued a statement denouncing the statue’s presence on the National Mall. A spokesperson said, “Liberals are free to waste their money however they see fit – but it’s not news that Epstein knew Donald Trump, because Donald Trump kicked Epstein out of his club for being a creep. Democrats, the media, and the organization that’s wasting their money on this statue knew about Epstein and his victims for years and did nothing to help them while President Trump was calling for transparency, and is now delivering on it with thousands of pages of documents.” The spokesperson also added, “There’s very few people who have gone on the record and called Trump one of his good friends.”
Photographic evidence of Trump and Epstein together at social events during the 1990s and early 2000s, including Trump’s 1993 wedding to Marla Maples at the Plaza Hotel in New York City, has been widely circulated. The installation comes at a time when scrutiny over their connection continues amid ongoing public and media attention to the Epstein Files saga.
