Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Monday said he was switching to Zoho, a homegrown software suite, as part of his call to embrace Swadeshi platforms. “I am moving to Zoho, our own Swadeshi platform for documents, spreadsheets and presentations,” the Minister for Electronics and Information Technology wrote on X.

In a video shared online, Vaishnaw added, “This is phenomenal. I am so impressed with the capabilities of Zoho.” He also urged citizens to heed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call to adopt indigenous products and services.

Zoho founder Sridhar Vembu shared the video and thanked him. The entrepreneur said this was “a huge morale boost for our engineers who have worked hard for over two decades to build our product suite.” “We will make you proud and make our nation proud. Jai Hind,” he added.

Zoho has also been investing heavily in artificial intelligence, launching its own large language model (LLM) and AI agents to reduce reliance on external technologies and enhance efficiency.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said that India will take an important step towards building an Atmanirbhar Bharat from the first day of Navratri, stressing the need for quality manufacturing and swadeshi practices to strengthen the economy.

Calling for a revival of the swadeshi spirit that powered India’s freedom struggle, the Prime Minister said the country’s development must rest on the foundation of homegrown industries. “The comb in our pocket is made in India or not, we don’t know. We need to buy made-in-India products. We need to make every household a symbol of swadeshi. Garv se kaho ye swadeshi hai,” he added.

The Prime Minister emphasised that every citizen’s purchasing choices can contribute to national growth, urging people to consciously support Indian-made goods. He urged India’s manufacturing units to focus on world-class standards. “Our manufacturing units need to produce top-quality products. India needs to be recognised with top-quality products,” he said.
