Bollywood choreographer and filmmaker Farah Khan recently reflected on her relationship with the late actor Rishi Kapoor, recalling her emotional response to his cancer diagnosis and their experiences on film sets. The insights emerged during a visit to Riddhima Kapoor Sahni’s home in Delhi, where Khan participated in a cooking vlog and discussed both personal and professional moments involving Kapoor, who died in 2020.

Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, who is set to make her Bollywood debut alongside Kapil Sharma, spoke about the family’s challenges during her father’s illness. “I never left Samara for three years. The first time I ever left Samara was when Dad got sick, before Covid, when he was diagnosed,” she shared, highlighting the impact of Kapoor’s health on their personal lives.

Farah Khan described her reaction upon learning about Rishi Kapoor’s diagnosis: “I remember when I got the news, I called Chintu ji (Rishi Kapoor) and started crying on the phone, and he was so positive, he kept saying, ‘arey chup beth yaar hota rehta hai, kuch nahi hai, main theek hojaaunga (Hey, calm down, yaar. These things happen, it’s nothing, I’ll be fine).’”

Khan also recounted her early career experiences working with Kapoor as a choreographer. She shared, “The last film that Chintu ji did as a hero, ‘Hum Dono’, was one of my first movies as a choreographer. He tried to bully me left and right. Then I had to give it back to him. And once you do that, he’s fine. Plus, he worked with my dad in ‘Raffuchakkar’.”

Rishi Kapoor was diagnosed with leukaemia in 2018 and sought treatment in New York for almost a year. After returning to India in 2019, he continued to work before his health again declined in early 2020. He died on April 30, 2020 at the age of 67.

On the professional front, Farah Khan recently choreographed the song ‘Gafoor for Aryan Khan’s debut series, ‘The Ba***ds Of Bollywood’. The track, featuring Tamannaah Bhatia, quickly gained popularity on social media.
