The SSC CGL Tier 1 Exam 2025, which began on September 12, 2025, to shortlist candidates for 14,582 Group B and C posts, has run into serious disruption at several centres across India.

From Day 1, aspirants reported technical glitches, power failures, and administrative lapses. Many exams were abruptly cancelled mid-way, sparking concerns that more cancellations could follow.

SSC chairperson S Gopalkrishnan admitted: “Since this is the first time for this agency, the examination has faced technical glitches and procedural lapses at a few centres. We have taken cognizance of this and are working to minimise disruptions.”

In its latest notice, SSC clarified that:

    • The CGL 2025 exam is being conducted smoothly across 227 centres in 129 cities for over 28 lakh candidates.
    • Out of 2,435 shifts planned, only 25 shifts were cancelled.
    • So far, 3,01,722 candidates have appeared without issue.
    • 7,705 affected candidates have already been given new dates.
    • Around 1,100 aspirants had exams rescheduled for valid reasons.
    • A feedback module has been launched for candidates to report problems.

Many aspirants expressed anger and frustration after travelling long distances only to face cancellations. Others welcomed SSC’s prompt decision to reschedule and its assurance that no candidate attempt will be wasted.

WHY WERE THE SSC CGL EXAMS CANCELLED?

While SSC has not issued detailed reasons, feedback suggests:

    • Technical/server failures at online centres
    • Power cuts causing abrupt stoppages
    • Management lapses at venues
    • Infrastructure gaps in smaller cities

    • Ignore rumours on social media.
    • Keep admit cards/documents ready, as re-exam dates may be short-notice.
    • Use extra time for revision – especially quantitative aptitude, reasoning, English comprehension, and GK.

EXPERT PREP TIPS DURING THE DELAY

    • Solve previous year papers to strengthen exam strategy.
    • Take timed mock tests for speed and accuracy.
    • Revise high-weightage topics like data interpretation, logical reasoning, and grammar.
    • Stay updated with current affairs to score easy marks in GK.
    • Maintain a healthy routine to avoid stress and burnout.

The SSC CGL 2025 Tier-1 disruptions are frustrating, but they affect only a small fraction of the 28 lakh candidates. With re-exam dates already fixed for Delhi-NCR, Gurugram, and Jammu, and more updates expected soon, aspirants should stay calm and treat this as an opportunity for extra preparation.
