In response to the revised Goods and Services Tax (GST) structure that has raised levies on motorcycles above 350cc to 40%, Piaggio India has announced customer-friendly measures for its Aprilia 457 range, ensuring buyers face no additional financial burden.
The Aprilia Tuono 457 will continue to retail at its current ex-showroom (Maharashtra) price of Rs 3,95,000, with Piaggio fully absorbing the GST impact. Meanwhile, the Aprilia RS 457 comes with benefits worth over Rs 35,000, effectively nullifying the tax hike. This package includes a direct Rs 15,000 absorption of the GST increase and a complimentary quick shifter valued at Rs 20,500, bundled with every RS 457 at its ex-showroom (Maharashtra) price of Rs 4,35,000.
With these measures, customers can bring home their dream Aprilia 457 ride without any GST impact, the company mentioned in a statement.
The move comes in the backdrop of the 56th GST Council meeting, chaired by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on September 3. The Council announced sweeping reforms to make mobility and agricultural equipment more affordable. Effective September 22, GST rates on small cars, motorcycles up to 350cc, three-wheelers, and a wide range of agricultural machinery have been cut, while luxury cars, large SUVs, and motorcycles above 350cc now fall under the 40% slab.
While all cars are now more affordable, as well as two-wheelers under 350cc, bikes above 350cc will become expensive, as it is placed under the 40% slab, though manufacturers are not hiking prices, rather absorbing the hike impact.
