Social media influencer and content creator, Sufi Motiwala, who rose to fame with his appearance on the Karan Johar’s reality show, The Traitors, has finally opened up about his much-talked-about fallout with co-contestant, Apoorva Mukhija. The two were once seen as inseparable friends, they collaborated on social media, attended parties together, and formed a strong connection during the show, but they eventually unfollowed each other on Instagram, sparking speculations of a fallout. Now Sufi has come up with his side of the story.

In a recent interview with SCREEN, Sufi clarified that there was no ‘drama’ or major fight between him and Apoorva, but it was just that the two viewed their friendship differently. While Sufi believed their bond had grown beyond the show, Apoorva seemingly viewed it differently. Speaking candidly about the situation, Sufi said:
“There is no drama as such. Nothing happened between us. After one point, I had the realisation that in my head, we were best friends, whereas in her head, I was just her friend from The Traitors. We were just not on the same page, so then I took a step back. That’s just about it.”
Sufi Motiwala has had previous clashes with co-contestants
This isn’t the first time Sufi’s dynamics with fellow contestants from The Traitors have made headlines. During The Traitors, he was also seen sharing cold vibes with the winner, Uorfi Javed. The two reportedly carried baggage from the past, which became evident during the show. Despite this, Sufi has often emphasised that he prefers not to indulge in unnecessary drama or negativity.

In the same interview, Sufi also addressed the wider world of social media influencers and how in his opinion, some people try to chase quick fame at the cost of credibility. He explained that while ‘cancelable’ statements can fetch instant views, he values long-term growth over viral moments. He could be quoted as saying:
“Everybody at the end of the day is trying to get their moment. They want to get their five minutes of fame. There are two ways to go about this – I could start name-dropping and say I hate this person, etc. All of them can become headlines, but then the industry will not talk to me. That’s how things work…With me, I have to be here for the long run, so I have to work harder at maintaining my relationships and developing my art. I don’t want to diss someone unnecessarily or bring them down just for views.”
