Overcome with emotion, Erika Kirk, the widow of Conservative influencer Charlie Kirk, who was assassinated earlier this month, told the crowd during a memorial in Glendale, Arizona, that she forgives her husband’s shooter.

While delivering her speech, Erika shared special memories with her husband and explained why exactly she is willing to ‘forgive’ the killer.

“I forgive him,” Erika said. “On the cross our saviour said, ‘Father, forgive them for they know not what they do’,” Erika also said. She asserted that this is what Charlie would do too.

“The answer to hate is not hate,” she declared. The answer we know from the gospel is love and always love, love for our enemies and love for those who persecute us,” Erika furthered.

In an emotional tribute to Charlie Kirk, Erika also revealed more about her experience when she witnessed Charlie’s body for the final time.

She stated, “I looked directly at my husband’s murdered body. I saw the wound that ended his life, but there was something else. Even in death, I could see the man that I love. I saw one single grey hair on the side of his head, which I never told him about. Now he knows. Sorry baby, I’m telling you now.”

Charlie Kirk, aged 31, died on 10 September at Utah Valley University. Police arrested Tyler Robinson, a 22-year-old college dropout, for shooting Kirk dead. He is charged with murder and other offences.
