Robo Shankar was one of the most notable names in the Tamil film industry, having worked with some of the biggest names in Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada films.  He earned the name ‘Robo’ for his robot dances in village shows. However, in a tragic turn of events, the actor breathed his last and bid adieu to his family and friends at the mere age of 46.

According to multiple sources, Robo Shankar was recently diagnosed with jaundice, for which he underwent prolonged treatment. After his treatment, it was noticed that the comedian had lost significant weight, which was alarming for his friends and family. Despite his slow recovery, Robo Shankar made a quick return to television to complete his commitments.

Robo Shankar had undergone poor health conditions since a young age. The comedian talked about the same in one of his interviews before his untimely death and said:

“I used to prepare for the Mr. India competition in bodybuilding. In those days, I used to paint my whole body in metallic paint by 6 am and stand before those lights for two to three hours and dance and perform, and attend six shows like that daily. This used to go on daily, and I used to apply these oils to get rid of the pain and go for other programs the next day without rest. So I got jaundice at a young age. But we sought treatment at Kalanivasal centre.”

Robo Shankar revealed his irregular eating habits, leading to his struggle with weight

In the same interview, Robo Shankar revealed how his eating habits turned erratic in recent years as he was involved with extensive shooting. Revealing how he stayed hungry, leading to his jaundice relapse, Shankar said:

“Recently, my food habits have been very irregular. I don’t follow any diet in particular. So jaundice came back. I usually don’t feel hungry these days. I had these extensive shooting schedules in foreign locations and I used to survive without food there as I am that kind of person. So, last January, when we checked, it had become very severe. It was almost as if my chapter had come to a close.”
