Kim Kardashian is cleansing her business portfolio.

The reality star and entrepreneur has officially shut down her skincare and makeup brand SKKN by Kim, marking the end of her standalone beauty venture just over three years after its 2022 debut.

The brand’s website now features a message to customers: “With deep gratitude, we share that SKKN BY KIM will be winding down operations,” it reads. “While this chapter is coming to a close, the commitment to innovation, self-care, and skin confidence that SKKN embodied will live on in new and exciting ways.”

The brand was criticized for its high price point and indistinct value proposition. skkn/Instagram

The decision isn’t entirely surprising: Kardashian, 44, has been steadily consolidating her business interests under Skims, the clothing and shapewear juggernaut valued at $4 billion.

In March, Skims acquired both Kim’s majority stake and Coty’s 20% share in SKKN by Kim, with Coty confirming it took a $71.1 million loss on the sale after investing heavily in Kardashian’s earlier line, KKW Beauty, in 2020.

Though SKKN launched with high expectations, it had a bumpy ride from the start. The nine-step skincare regimen retailed at over $600, making it a hard sell for even her most dedicated fans.

Even Bethenny Frankel didn’t hold back, shading the pricey line on TikTok: “That is a rich person’s game,” she said, questioning whether it could resonate beyond Kardashian’s inner circle.

In 2024, the brand expanded from skincare into makeup. skkn/Instagram

In 2024, Kardashian tried to course-correct with a SKKN by Kim makeup relaunch, introducing lip liners, powders, and an eyeshadow palette.

Even with the star’s influence, the brand never reached the cultural ubiquity of Skims, which has expanded into loungewear, swimwear and menswear, and is in the midst of a global retail push.

The end of SKKN doesn’t mean Kardashian is finished with beauty entirely. Industry chatter points to a Skims Beauty launch in 2026, which could house fashion and makeup under one Kardashian-led empire.

With Skims already pulling in more than $750 million in revenue by 2023, the pivot may give her a second shot at dominating the beauty space.

For now, fans will have to wait and see if Kardashian can parlay her shapewear dominance into lipstick-level success.
