Actor Huma Qureshi was presented with Face of Asia Award at BIFF (Busan International Film Festival). She dedicated her win to “little girls who dare to dream and not take no for an answer.”
While expressing gratitude, she reminisced about her journey as a young girl from Delhi to becoming an actor. Huma said, “So, this is my first time in Busan.”
The actor further said, “This is very special. For a little girl born in Delhi whose father was born in Nizamuddin basti, for those who don’t know it is like a ghetto and whose mother was born in a village…I was always told that becoming an actress was not for someone like me.”
“So, today here, seeing this is not just a validation for me, but all the little girls out there who have been told that certain things are not meant for them. This is for all the little girls who dare to dream and not take no for an answer. Thank you,” she added.
