For his runway debut, the designer Chris Habana collaborated with Pornhub and enlisted Elon Musk’s eldest daughter Vivian Wilson as a model.
Although the New York-based designer may not be a New York Fashion Week headliner, he has created custom looks for such top-tier talent as Beyoncé, Madonna, Zendaya, Lady Gaga, Doechii, Doja Cat, Erykah Badu, Shaboozey and Tyla. Billed as “Pop,” his Sept. 15 show at the Ideal Glass House featured 18 spring-summer looks that were inspired by the space that exists between restraint and expansion. For Habana, that translated to sci-futurism, punk and global influences including hints of BDSM like wet-molded leather in pale green.
Before the lights went down for the show, the 21-year-old Wilson spoke about her budding modeling career. Having also hit the catwalk for Prabal Gurung, Dauphinette and Alex Bittar, she said that the highlight was “meeting people.” Wilson added, “I know that’s very cliché and very pageant. But it’s a new city and I’m meeting new people.”
Based in Los Angeles and represented by CAA, she declined to pinpoint how much she earned for her four runway shows. Only six months into her modeling career, Wilson said that wearing a dress that was made of safety pins (that Habana designed) had been the most surprising part of her first NYFW.
Wilson’s favorite fashion hacks are blister pads and shoe stretch spray to make shoes fit better. While Wilson takes fashion cues from some of her “very stylish friends,” she said that she did not always know that she wanted to be a model, but her mother [Justine Musk] did. Wilson said she started practicing her runway walk outside at a young age. Born and raised in Los Angeles, she declined to comment about whether it is difficult to escape the shadow of her famous father. “That’s not something that I want to talk about,” Wilson said.
The former Department of Government Efficiency leader’s mother Maye Musk is still a professional model at the age of 77, who walked in Taoray Wang’s Juzui runway show last year.
Six feet tall with long light brown hair, she favors sweatpants when not working. “I know it’s a fashion faux pas, but I dress very casually with sweatpants, and a tank top with a sweater or jacket,” Wilson said.

Without any hesitation, Wilson chalked up her good looks to her mother. Justine and Elon Musk married in 2000 and divorced in 2008. The couple had six children including one who died as an infant. Musk, the founder of Tesla and SpaceX, has fathered 14 children in total. Wilson changed her name to Vivian a few years ago to reflect her gender identity.
Working as an influencer is her side hustle. Although designing a clothing collection is not currently part of her plans, she left the door open to that prospect. “Who knows what the future holds, darling?” she said.
Standing backstage Monday night, Wilson said she was somewhat nervous. “I’m chillin’. I guess I get somewhat nervous on the runway. But at that point, I’m so focused on doing it that I really don’t have time to think about anything else.”
Enthusiastic about Habana’s spring-summer collection, she said, “I love this. It’s really incredible,” motioning toward her gown that was made of safety pins. She was less exuberant about New York City’s noise level. “It’s so loud. I guess that’s pretty well-known, but I kept getting woken up by the traffic. Also, people walk like crazy here. And what I’ve noticed is they can’t drive.”

The New York-based Habana might have had a few long nights before the show, but he was not counting sheep. “We have been creating so many culture-defining looks for other trailblazers in the world, so the chance to be able to express our studio’s distinct point of view is a dream,” he said.
