On Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 75th birthday (September 17), a new biopic titled ‘Maa Vande’ was announced, with Malayalam actor Unni Mukundan set to portray the Indian PM on-screen. Known for his powerful performances in Malayalam cinema and a growing presence in Telugu films, Unni’s casting has generated immense buzz.
Who is Unni Mukundan?
Born in Thrissur, Kerala, on September 22, 1987, Unni graduated in English Literature and Journalism before venturing into films. He began his career in 2011 with the Tamil movie ‘Seedan’, which starred Dhanush, before debuting in Malayalam cinema with ‘Bombay March 12’ alongside Mammootty. His performance earned him several debut awards, while his breakthrough came with ‘Mallu Singh’ in 2012, cementing his status as a household name.
Unni’s versatility took him beyond Malayalam cinema. He made his Tollywood debut with the blockbuster ‘Janatha Garage’ in 2016 and later shared screen space with Anushka Shetty in ‘Bhaagamathie’. His critically acclaimed performance in ‘Malikappuram’ (2022) further solidified his reputation as a leading star. Most recently, his film ‘Marco’ created a strong impact among audiences.
Announcing his role in the Modi biopic, the actor wrote on X, “A man’s story that rises beyond battles to become a revolution for the ages. #MaaVande it is. Wishing the Honourable Prime Minister @Narendramodi Ji a very Happy Birthday. May glory be revived and brighter things await.”
‘Maa Vande’ will be directed by Kranthi Kumar CH and produced by Veer Reddy M. under Silver Cast Creations.
