Actor Vedika Pinto, known for her charm and understated screen presence, is all set to return to the big screen with her upcoming film Nishaanchi, directed by Anurag Kashyap. While her career is just beginning to gain momentum, Vedika made a bold choice early on — she didn’t take up any new work for two years to fully commit herself to the film and her character, Rinku.
Vedika Pinto on not taking up work for two years: “No regrets, creating Rinku in Nishaanchi was an experience of a lifetime”
In a recent interview, Vedika opened up about the decision and how it shaped her both personally and professionally. “If I try to think back to those two years, I remember a lot of frustration and impatience. I was still auditioning, and when a few things did work out, I felt tempted. But Anurag sir was very clear — he didn’t want me to do them,” she shared. While it wasn’t easy, Vedika trusted her director’s instincts. “Of course, he did say that if something spectacular came my way, he would encourage me to do it. He always said, ‘Work because you like the world that’s being created, or because you feel drawn to a story or a character — don’t work just for the sake of working.’” Now, with Nishaanchi ready for release, Vedika feels content with the path she chose. “Looking back, I don’t regret it at all. Making Nishaanchi and creating Rinku was an experience of a lifetime,” she added.
