Odell Beckham Jr. is addressing the social media reaction to a video of him dancing in his car to Drake‘s “Family Matters” that went viral last summer.

OBJ sat down with Complex recently and was asked about the backlash he received online after he posted the video and his thoughts on the back-and-forth between his close friend Drake and Kendrick Lamar that had the rap game in a chokehold for the last year-plus.

“I support bro through all of what he’s going through,” he said before explaining that the video wasn’t necessarily meant to be posted. “And that video was even a joke that I sent to my boy Chris. It wasn’t even a video that I thought was going anywhere because it’s like, ‘Yo, we’re trying to get some stuff for TikTok.’”

He then continued by saying that once the video got out, he started to notice the assumptions people were making online about his sexuality.

“And that video gets out,” he said. “Then I’m in a tie-dye shirt, and they make it all kinds of stuff. That’s when I fall back to like…when I say, I really know who I am? Like stop it. Whatever you may think, I know who I am. I would make a joke about all that other stuff but…I’ma just leave it. Maybe another time you’ll hear the quote come out. I know who I am. I know what I do.”

He was then asked about his thoughts on the rap battle as it unfolded and said he’s always supported Drake.

“I listened, I thought it was great. I told him that to his face,” the Pro Bowl wide receiver told the outlet. “But at the end of the day, you’re talking about Drake, he’s one of very few. I don’t know necessarily know how that played out in his life…that’s for him to learn and go through.”

He added: “I had always supported that side, I had always shown up, I had always done that. Before their little beef, had I listened to Kendrick’s stuff? Yeah, Kendrick’s a great artist. I love music. Music is what makes me, me. Since I was little.”
