Aryan Khan is set to make his much-awaited directorial debut with The Ba***ds of Bollywood. The eldest son of Shah Rukh Khan will officially step into the Bollywood scene with the film’s Netflix release on Thursday, September 18, 2025. Described as a satirical action-comedy-drama, the movie includes nods to several debatable issues within the Bollywood industry, including the domination of the powerful and the outsider vs. insider controversy. Among them, a particular jail scene has caught fans’ attention and drawn several theories.
Some fans felt that the scene was a nod to Aryan Khan’s 22-day real-life detention. With the buzz around the topic, the actors of the film, Lakshya and Manoj Pahwa, revealed the truth behind the scenes. Lakshya mentioned that it showcased Aryan’s humorous side, which many are unaware of.
The jail scene in The Ba***ds Of Bollywood
The trailer of The Ba***ds Of Bollywood includes a scene where the lead star, Lakshya’s character, ‘Aasmaan Singh’, is seen behind bars. ‘Aasmaan’ is an aspiring actor who comes to the land of films to build his career and make a name for himself. However, he gets caught up in unnecessary drama, including being jailed. At that time, a cop assures him that there’s nothing to worry about. He explains that jail time often gives people a strange kind of fame, and their popularity skyrockets after they are released. His exact words were, “Tension nahi lene ka, andar ja ke log aur bhi famous ho jaate hai.”
Did Aryan Khan hint at his jail experience in The Ba***ds Of Bollywood?
The dialogue regarding the increase in fame of jailed stars led the audience to believe it was a direct nod to Aryan Khan’s 2021 detention in a narcotics case. Many believe that the controversy sparked widespread attention and debate, potentially contributing to Aryan’s increased popularity and public interest in him. Regarding whether the fictional prison scene of The Ba***ds Of Bollywood was actually based on director Aryan’s personal experience, Lakshya spilt the beans.
In his recent conversation with SCREEN, the Kill actor neither accepted nor denied the claims. He, instead, focused his response on the humorous side of Aryan and the scene. Lakshya mentioned being stunned at such ‘jokes’ being included in the satirical movie. Regarding the jail scene being beyond his expectations, he said:
“I didn’t have any hopes that he was going to have jokes like these in the show.”

Lakshya also shared how he didn’t think that Aryan would be able to pull off something like that. He mentioned having an impression that Aryan would be ‘a tough guy’, who ‘won’t smile for the paps.’ However, Lakshya was proven wrong when he learned about the movie’s plot and character details. His view of Aryan changed from a serious boy to a fun one. Lakshya praised him as someone who observed life and had fresh humour to offer. He said:
“When I met him and read the script, it struck me that his humour is quite crazy. His sense of humour is so fresh and rooted. It comes from his observations of life. How boys behave in a Delhi school, the bond between Raghav’s and my characters also comes from there.”
Manoj Pahwa denied that the jail scene was based on Aryan Khan’s personal experience
During his recent conversation with The Print, Manoj Pahwa confirmed that the jail scene of The Ba***ds of Bollywood has no connection to Aryan Khan’s personal experience. Manoj Pahwa plays a crucial part in the movie and has also expressed his appreciation for the youngster, just like Lakshya. He even called Aryan the spitting image of his father, Shah Rukh Khan. Regarding The Ba***ds of Bollywood‘s prison episode, Manoj Pahwa said:
“There is no relation between the scene and the incident. The show is entirely fictional.”
