The actor stated that he had been with Lizze since they were teenagers, growing up in their hometown in Ohio. Tanner also revealed that when he was seventeen, Lizze had broken up with him in 2015. Tanner mentioned that he was at fault at the time, but they made up. Calling the brief break-up one of the most devastating periods of his life, Tanner shared:
“It was my fault. I was actually kind of being an a** during that time. So she had every right to break up with me.”

As Tanner began receiving widespread recognition for both Cobra Kai and He’s All That, there was curiosity about his love life. Several portals confirmed that he was dating Lizze Broadway.
