The plot, as given in the book, follows the story of an ex-convict, ‘Millie’, who wants to leave her past behind. As a result, she takes up the opportunity to work as a live-in housemaid for the wealthy ‘Winchester family’, which includes ‘Nina’, her husband ‘Andrew’ and their daughter. As ‘Millie’ starts living with the family of three, dark secrets are revealed as imminent danger lurks in the house. Directed by Paul Feig, The Housemaid is set to release on the big screen on December 19, 2025. The trailer features a dark rendition of Sabrina Carpenter’s pop song, Please Please Please. The groovy pop song has been transformed into a dark and sombre background score for the upcoming movie, which complements the unsettling, dark tone set for the film. After she was approached by a British publishing company in 2022, which offered to publish one of her works, the author decided to share with them The Housemaid. Following the success of the first book, it was made into a franchise, with The Housemaid’s Secret released in 2023 and The Housemaid Is Watching in 2024.
