It may have been the Monday night of New York Fashion Week — a point in the week when, as Harper’s Bazaar editor in chief Samira Nasr acknowledged “everyone is so tired” — but who passes up the opportunity to have dirty martinis with Dua Lipa?

The pop star was the guest of honor at the Harper’s Bazaar Icons dinner, celebrating her recent appearance on the magazine’s September cover. Harper’s Bazaar has taken over Wild Cherry, the yet-to-open new restaurant inside the Cherry Lane Theater in the West Village. (The restaurant is run by Lee Hanson and Riad Nasr, Samira’s older brother.) 

Joining Lipa were guests including Laura Harrier, Tessa Thompson, Tracee Eliss Ross, Willy Chavarria, Amy Sherald, Ravyn Lenae, Karen Elson, Linda Evangelista, Eva Victor, Misty Copeland, Mary Katrantzou, Gabriela Hearst, Paloma Elsesser and Thelma Golden. 

Ahead of Lipa’s arrival the team was busy setting up trays of extra dirty martinis, her preferred drink. After she arrived, wearing a dress by Schiaparelli and jewelry by Bulgari (who cohosted the party), she cheers her cocktail, giving it her seal of approval. “This is very good,” she said. 

Before dinner got underway, Nasr thanked the room for taking time out of their schedules to attend. 

“I want to thank this year’s icon, Dua Lipa, for being a constant source of joy and inspiration,” Nasr told Lipa. “Dua, you are proof that joy, gravitas, intellect and empathy can not only exist on a world stage, but actually looks best in a lace catsuit,” she added, referencing the cover look.
