The Andhra Pradesh government on Monday announced the final results of the District Selection Committee (DSC) teacher recruitment drive, covering over 16,000 vacancies across six departments. Close to 15,000 candidates have secured appointments, officials confirmed.
Kona Sasidhar, Secretary of the School Education Department, said that out of the 5.7 lakh applications received, 3.36 lakh were found eligible. Of these, selections were made for more than 16,000 positions spread across 10 management categories. “We have finalised appointments for nearly 15,000 posts. Around 400 positions remain unfilled due to the absence of suitable candidates, and these will be carried over to the next DSC recruitment,” Sasidhar said at a press briefing.
Women accounted for almost half of the selections, with close to 7,000 female candidates making the cut, representing 49.9 percent of the total. Along with existing vertical reservations, the state also implemented horizontal reservation under the sports quota and completed the SC categorisation process.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, along with Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, is scheduled to personally distribute appointment letters to the newly selected candidates at a state event on September 19.
The selected teachers will undergo training in their allotted districts from September 22 to 29, following which their postings will be finalised. The government has also committed to holding DSC recruitments annually, with the aim of completing the process before the start of each academic year.
Education Minister Nara Lokesh noted that the Mega DSC-2025 recruitment was the very first file signed by Chief Minister Naidu after taking charge. “Within 150 days, the School Education Department has completed this massive recruitment exercise, underscoring our commitment to strengthening Andhra Pradesh’s education system,” Lokesh said.
Calling the recruitment drive a significant milestone, he added: “This marks not just jobs but the beginning of a journey of service shaping young minds and carrying forward the vision of the AP Model of Education into every classroom.”
