The Pitt took home the best drama series 2025 Emmy on Sunday night, and showrunner R. Scott Gemmill dedicated the trophy to healthcare workers and first responders.
“I have the best producing partners and friends in the world, John Wells and Noah Wyle — I don’t know where he is,” Gemmill said on stage, looking for Wyle who had just won the best drama actor award for the show. “Our secret weapon, Dr. Joe Sachs, who else? Our friends, our families. And I want to dedicate this, on behalf of everyone, to all the healthcare workers, frontline first responders. Respect them, protect them, trust them.”
The Pitt chronicles a full shift of ER workers by the hour (and shot in real time) and stars Wyle, Katherine LaNasa (who also won an Emmy for her performance on Sunday night), Patrick Ball, Tracy Ifeachor and Shawn Hatosy. The show, which has received critical acclaim for its realistic portrayal of an ER and its healthcare workers, went into the night with 13 nominations for its freshman season.
The Pitt was nominated alongside Andor, The Diplomat, The Last of Us, Paradise, Severance, Slow Horses and The White Lotus. Severance led the Emmy nominations with a whopping 27 nods.
The 77th Emmy Awards aired live from the Peacock Theater at L.A. Live in Los Angeles on Sunday on CBS and streamed on Paramount+. Nate Bargatze served as the night’s host. One weekend earlier, the 2025 Creative Arts Emmys handed out dozens of awards to mostly below-the-line categories.
