For the past few years, artificial intelligence (AI) has moved from being a futuristic concept to an everyday reality. Beyond writing and data analysis, AI is now creating images, videos, and even films. Recently, debates have intensified in the Indian film industry after directors Anurag Kashyap and Vikramaditya Motwane criticized Chiranjeevi Hanuman – The Eternal, India’s first fully AI-generated film. Now, actor Varun Dhawan has also voiced his concerns about the implications of AI on cinema.
Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari trailer launch: Varun Dhawan warns of AI replacing actors, Janhvi Kapoor stresses value of human creativity
During the trailer launch of his upcoming film Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, Varun stressed the responsibility that comes with using advanced technology like AI. He cautioned that without proper safeguards, the industry could reach a stage where human actors may no longer be needed.
“We can reach a period when we would not need actors and instead just create them,” Varun said, urging the necessity of laws and regulations to protect the rights of actors and artists.
Joining him, his co-star Janhvi Kapoor highlighted that AI’s impact isn’t limited to actors alone but extends to technicians and creative professionals across the industry. She acknowledged that AI tools have sped up processes like character visualization and look design, potentially reducing costs. However, she emphasized the irreplaceable value of human creativity.
“Not just for actors, but for every technician… This could reduce the financial burden, but I believe there is a need to preserve what a creative human being has to offer,” Janhvi observed.
Meanwhile, the trailer of Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari set against the backdrop of a vibrant Indian wedding, offered audiences a glimpse into a festive mix of romance, comedy, and family drama. The film stars Varun Dhawan, Janhvi Kapoor, Sanya Malhotra, Rohit Saraf, Akshay Oberoi, and Maniesh Paul. Directed by Shashank Khaitan and produced by Dharma Productions and Mentor Disciple Entertainment, the film promises to revive the charm of the quintessential family entertainer. It is slated for release this Dussehra on October 2, 2025.
