A man was left stunned after his healthy 40-year-old colleague died of a cardiac arrest just 10 minutes after sending a message requesting sick leave.
KV Iyyer shared the devastating incident in a now-viral post on X. “One of my colleagues, Shankar, texted me at 8:37 am: ‘Sir, due to severe back pain I am unable to come today. Please grant me leave.’ Such messages are routine, so I replied, ‘Ok, take rest.’ The day went on as usual,” he wrote.
“At 11 am, I received a call that shook me completely. The caller informed me that Shankar had passed away. I could not believe it at first, so I contacted another colleague to confirm and get his address. When I reached his home, he was no more,” Iyyer added.
“He was part of my team for six years. Just 40 years old, healthy and fit, married with a child, never smoked or drank,” he said.
Iyyer further explained the shocking timeline. “Shankar suffered a cardiac arrest. What is unbelievable is that he sent the leave message at 8:37 am and passed away at 8:47 am. A man, fully conscious, messaged me just 10 minutes before his last breath. I am completely shocked.”
“Life is unpredictable. Be kind to those around you and live happily, because you never know what the next minute holds,” Iyyer said as he concluded his post.
