Whenever India and Pakistan face each other on the cricket field, the clash goes far beyond sport. It is about pride, passion, and national identity. As you read this, the two teams have clashed in the latest Group A Asia Cup match in Dubai.
The match carries even more weight because it is the first time the two nations have met on the field after the Pahalgam attack and subsequent Operation Sindoor, which led to rising border tensions. However, the serious day was interrupted by a major fumble that has left the internet in splits.
DJ replaces ‘Jalebi Baby’ song with Pakistan’s national anthem
The tension in the Dubai International Stadium is at an all-time high after fans turned up in huge numbers to watch the India-Pakistan match, trying to outnumber their counterparts in green. The air is thick with tension, and just before the toss, India’s head coach, Gautam Gambhir delivered a fiery pep talk. Soon after, captains Suryakumar Yadav and Salman Ali Agha refused to shake hands or even make eye contact. It gave a hint of how frosty the mood was between the two sides.
But even before the first ball was bowled, an unexpected moment stole the spotlight. Just when all the players from both sides lined up in the stadium for their respective national anthems, the DJ at the stadium mistakenly played the chartbuster hit ‘Jalebi Baby‘ by Tesher and Jason Derulo instead of Pakistan’s national anthem. The song continued for six seconds, and the catchy tune left the Pakistani team and audiences visibly confused. Although the mistake was quickly corrected, and the accurate national anthem was played, the six seconds were enough to spark murmurs of embarrassment.
Pakistan’s batting lineup crumbled in the first half of the India vs Pakistan match
Beyond the DJ mix-up, the focus of the day quickly went back to cricket. When the match was halfway through, Pakistan’s batting lineup had crumbled under India’s disciplined bowling attack. They posted a target of 127 for nine wickets. Axar Patel gave India the early breakthrough, while Kuldeep Yadav spun his web around Pakistan’s middle order, finishing with three wickets for just 18 runs. However, the match is still left, and it will be important to see how the Indian batting team performs.

Former Pakistan team director called out BCCI for not playing Dil Dil Pakistan
It is not the first time that the choice of music or sound stole the limelight in a match. Previously, when Pakistan’s team cricket arrived to play the 50-over World Cup in India back in 2023, their Pakistan team director, Mickey Arthur, blamed the BCCI’s choice of song as a reason for their loss. The team had suffered a humiliating 8-wicket loss to Afghanistan in Chennai. In the post-match conference, Mickey created a new controversy by saying:
“Look, I’d be lying if I said that it didn’t seem like an ICC event tonight, to be brutally honest. It seemed like a bilateral series; it seemed like a BCCI event. I didn’t hear Dil Dil Pakistan coming through the microphones too often tonight.”
