India has voted in favour of a UN resolution supporting a two-state solution to the Israel-Palestine conflict, marking a shift from its past abstentions on Gaza-related votes. The resolution was adopted with 142 nations backing it, 10 opposing—including Israel and the US—and 12 abstaining. It urged Israel to end violence against Palestinians while also condemning the October 7 Hamas attack that killed 1,200 people and left more than 250 hostage. The two-state solution envisions an independent Palestine coexisting peacefully alongside Israel.
