    Chhattisgarh: Naxalite killed in Bijapur encounter; weapons, explosives seized | India News – The Times of India

    NEW DELHI: A Naxalite was shot dead in an encounter with security forces in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district on Saturday, police said.The gunfight broke out in a forest in the western part of the district when a team of security personnel launched an anti-Naxal operation, a senior police official confirmed.After the exchange of fire ended, the forces searched the site and recovered the body of the slain Naxalite. Along with the body, security teams found a 12-bore gun, a Barrel Grenade Launcher (BGL), explosives and other Maoist-related material, the officer added.The operation was part of the ongoing efforts to curb Maoist activity in the region.
