The Chinese entertainment industry just lost a young, talented star. C-drama actor, Yu Menglong passed away at the age of 37 on September 11, 2025, as confirmed by his management agency, EE Media. The tragic news was reported after speculations surfaced that he had fallen off a building in Beijing. The news sent shockwaves among fans and Yu Menglong’s acquaintances. In honour of his contribution to the C-drama scene and the Chinese music industry, let’s take a moment to reflect on his life and memorable career.
Who was Yu Menglong?
Yu Menglong, better known as Alan Yu, was a multifaceted individual. He was a Chinese actor, singer, model, and director. Yu Menglong was born on June 15, 1988, in Ürümqi, Xinjiang. Regarding his parents or lover, no information is available online. However, he was known to have two dogs, Fuli and Huotui, whom he considered family and often did photoshoots with. In his professional sphere, he was most popularly known for his role in Eternal Love (2017), starring alongside Yang Mi and Dilraba Dilmurat.
He began his entertainment career by participating in the reality show, My Show! My Style! in 2007. He gained wider recognition after competing in the singing competition Super Boy in 2013. In 2011, Yu Menglong transitioned into acting, becoming widely known for his roles in several popular Chinese dramas. The Little Prince, a short film, marked his entry into the acting world. His notable works include Go Princess Go (2015), Love Game in Eastern Fantasy (2024), The Love Lasts Two Minds (2020) and The Legend of White Snake (2019).
Returning to his singing career, Yu Menglong released his debut album, Toy, in 2015. After its success, the artist released his second album, titled after his own name, Yu Meng Long, in 2017. Thus, he aptly balanced both acting and singing, and proved to be a budding talent in the Chinese entertainment industry. His untimely death deprived fans of many more interesting projects that Yu Menglong would have otherwise brought to life.
How did the news of Yu Menglong’s death break?
On Thursday, September 10, 2025, a paparazzi posted about Yu Menglong’s death on social media. The now-deleted post contained an account of how the pap obtained the news. He stated that an insider informed him that Yu Menglong was having a meal with 5–6 good friends at a friend’s house on September 9. On September 11, at around 2 AM, he went to the bedroom to sleep and locked the door from the inside. It further stated that when his friends went downstairs to see him before leaving at around 6 AM, they found him lifeless.
Following the post going viral, the actor’s team came forward to confirm the news the next day. The team’s statement, shared on Weibo, included no mention of the cause of the actor’s death. They mourned Yu Menglong’s demise and stated that, as per police investigation, there were no signs of foul play. The death announcement declaration could be read as:
“With unbearable sorrow, we announce that our beloved Menglong fell to his death on September 11. Police have ruled out any criminality. We hope he rests in peace and his loved ones remain strong.”
