Actor-choreographer Prabhudeva is all set to step into an uncharted territory by playing the lead role in the crime-thriller series ‘Sethurajan IPS’. He is all set to make his OTT debut with the show about a cop investigating a murder case.
Set against the charged backdrop of rural Tamil Nadu, the show follows Sethurajan IPS, a cop entangled in a politically sensitive case. Sethurajan’s murder probe further spirals into a battle of power, identity, and justice.
The first look of the show, unveiled by Sony Liv shows Prabhudeva’s raw and riveting transformation, contrasting his further appearances. While sharing his thoughts on the upcoming series, he said, “Sethurajan IPS isn’t just a cop; he’s a man caught in a storm of duty, identity, and politics. This role challenged me like never before. I believe this story is not just timely, but necessary. Sony LIV has always pushed the envelope with bold, rooted storytelling and this series is no exception.”
A few months ago, the actor had reunited with his colleagues from the Tamil and Telugu film industries, who shaped cinema in the 90s. KS Ravikumar, Shankar, Mohan Raja, Jagapathi Babu, Meka Srikanth, Tarun, Simran, Meena were seen celebrating friendship and cinema during their Goa holiday in July 2025.
Prabhudeva was last seen in Himesh Reshamiya’s musical-spoof-action film ‘Badass Ravi Kumar’. It was directed by debutant Keith Gomes. The movie also featured Simona J, Kirti Kulhari, Sunny Leone, Saurabh Sachdeva, Sanjay Mishra, Johnny Lever, Manish Wadhwa, Rajesh Sharma, Pawan Malhotra, Mohan Joshi, Sulabha Arya, Navneet Nishan, Raza Murad, and Prashant Narayanan in key roles.
Directed by Rafiq Ismail, the series pushes beyond the conventions of a cop drama to deliver a gripping commentary on power, politics, and justice.
‘Sethurajan IPS’ will soon be available for streaming on Sony Liv. The release date is yet to be announced.
