It’s a big day for the naked dress. First, Margot Robbie arrived at the London premiere of A Big Bold Beautiful Journey in a sheer, jewel-encrusted gown from Armani Privé’s spring 2025 collection. (Fashion writer Hannah Jackson had all the details, calling it “a fitting tribute to the designer, who died last week at 91.”) Just a few hours later, Dakota Johnson served up another naked dress inspiration at the Kering Foundation’s Caring for Women dinner in New York City.

While the dresses themselves were incredibly different, the stars could agree on one thing: If you’re going nearly-nude, only an updo will do.

For Robbie, hairstylist Bryce Scarlett created a sculptural, sleek updo. Her hair was parted in the middle, then pulled back to the crown of the head, where tendrils of highlights gently swirled around the bun. Makeup artist Patti Dubroff kept everything else incredibly subtle—shades were silky and all within the peach and earthtone families.

Johnson’s take, created by Mark Townshend, stayed in line with her iconic bohemian style. Her thick curtain bangs were slightly mussed, and two face-faming tendrils were curled to perfection—the ease of it all was incredibly chic. To finish it off, the actor’s eyes were lined with a combination of black and brown for a cool, rocker style.
