Produced by Ajay Rai and Ranjan Singh under the banner of Jar Pictures, in association with Flip Films, Amazon MGM Studios India’s upcoming theatrical release, Nishaanchi, is directed by Anurag Kashyap. The film is one of the biggest entertainment releases anticipated this month and also marks the debut of Aaishvary Thackeray in the lead role. He stars opposite Vedika Pinto and takes on a rare double role, portraying twin brothers Babloo and Dabloo—characters that are identical in looks but completely opposite in nature.

Ever since the trailer dropped, audiences have been eagerly waiting to watch Aaishvary’s performance on the big screen after his promising glimpse created strong buzz. In a recent interview, director Anurag Kashyap opened up about how Aaishvary came on board and revealed that the actor gave his all to the roles. Kashyap praised his dedication, sharing that his hunger and commitment genuinely surprised him.
Sharing how Aaishvary prepared for the role, Anurag shared, “Once Aaishvary came on board, he fully surrendered to the process. He travelled to Kanpur, immersed himself in the local language and dialect, and really absorbed the world I had envisioned. He went through multiple workshops, worked on the environment, the language, and even the chemistry. Honestly, for the longest time, I was torn between whether Babloo and Dabloo should be played by two different actors/ brothers or by one in a double role. But when I saw Aaishvary’s hunger, his commitment, his dedication, I knew immediately — he is Babloo and Dabloo.”
He shared how these elements helped him bring the film together, saying, “That’s when everything came together. For me, casting had to be just right, and it took a lot of time, effort, and exploration before I found the actors who could truly bring these characters to life. It was only when I felt they were completely ready that I finally began pitching the film.”
Directed by Anurag Kashyap, produced by Ajay Rai and Ranjan Singh under Jar Pictures, in association with Flip Films, the movie is written by Prasoon Mishra, Ranjan Chandel, and Anurag Kashyap. Promising a gripping cinematic experience, the story explores the fractured bond between two brothers who walk starkly different paths, revealing how their choices shape their destinies. The film features debutant Aaishvary Thackeray in a fiery double role, alongside a brilliant cast featuring Vedika Pinto, Monika Panwar, Mohd Zeeshan Ayyub, and Kumud Mishra in pivotal roles. Nishaanchi will hit theatres nationwide on September 19.
