Superstar Rajinikanth’s highly anticipated sequel ‘Jailer 2’ has been in the buzz ever since its announcement. Written and directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, the film is reportedly a continuation of the 2023 blockbuster, which featured iconic cameos by Kannada and Malayalam superstars Shiva Rajkumar and Mohanlal. Amidst speculations of them reprising their roles, Shiva Rajkumar was seen on the sets of ‘Jailer 2’, confirming his presence in the film.

In the video, the ‘Tagaru’ actor can be seen patiently posing for pictures with several fans who stood in a queue for their turn. The video, uploaded on X by a fan, was captioned “Narsimha Storm Begins”, signifying how his cameo role in ‘Jailer’ as Narasimha left an impact on the audience.
Shiva Rajkumar’s cameo from the first part went viral upon release, with audiences raving about the actor’s screen presence. His scene in the climax of ‘Jailer’ has been popularly termed the tissue box scene, while the background score, composed by Anirudh Ravichander, was highly appreciated.
‘Jailer’ gained popularity for showcasing Rajinikanth’s mass persona in a never-before-seen flavour. The dark comedy elements that director Nelson is known for were well received by fans. Along with cameos by Shiva Rajkumar and Mohanlal, Jackie Shroff, Tamannaah Bhatia and Sunil also featured in extended cameos. The film starred Ramya Krishnan, Vinayakan, Yogi Babu and several others in prominent roles alongside Rajinikanth.
‘Jailer 2’ is said to reprise all the characters from the first part, along with several new additions that have excited fans. Reports suggest that Telugu superstar Nandamuri Balakrishna will also be featured in the sequel. Veteran Bollywood actor Mithun Chakraborty is confirmed to be an integral part of the film’s storyline.
Fans were expecting Rajinikanth’s previous outing, ‘Coolie’, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, to be the first Tamil film that could breach the Rs 1,000 crore mark at the box office. However, due to mixed reviews from critics and audiences alike, the film barely managed to cross the Rs 500 crore mark, after a brilliant opening weekend where it collected over Rs 400 crore worldwide.
Now, all eyes are on ‘Jailer 2’ as the frontrunner to open the doors of the Rs 1,000 crore club for Tamil cinema.
