On the eve of the official start of New York Fashion Week, Dior invited VIPs to stop by their recently renovated flagship on 57th Street. While the store reopened last month, guests did get a preview of a different debut: Jonathan Anderson’s womenswear debut for the brand.
“I was in Paris last week and it was my first time seeing Jonathan Anderson’s women’s collection,” said Dior ambassador Anna Sawai, who was dressed in a white dress from the upcoming show. “Only a couple of pieces, but I was also very lucky enough to be able to wear one of his pieces.” The “Shogun” star teased the collection as “fresh, unique and new.”
“There’s so many words I can describe it. It’s just so amazing,” she added. “I am really excited for the show.” Before heading to Paris, Sawai will be in L.A. this weekend to present at the Emmys.
“I’m really excited to be back for that,” she said, adding that she hasn’t yet seen her dress for the awards ceremony. Heading into fall, she’s looking forward to enjoying some downtime. “Because I’ve been shooting quite a bit,” she said. “And just, you know, enjoy my personal life a little bit.”

Actor Will Price, wearing a floral sweater from Anderson’s debut men’s collection, was recently in Venice for the premiere of Luca Guadagnino’s next film “After the Hunt.” ”Venice is such a magical festival in general. It really feels like something out of a fairytale — getting on the boats — and it feels like something out of another time,” said Price, who wore a Dior look designed by Anderson for the festival premiere, and described the designer’s vision as “electric, cinematic and specific.” “I just felt so confident wearing Jonathan’s work. He’s a good friend. I think he really sees the person that he’s putting clothes on, and knows what looks good on them. So I just felt really confident and stylish.”
Price stars as a young college student in the film led by Julia Roberts, Ayo Edebiri, and Andrew Garfield. “”She’s a capital M movie star,” said Price of Roberts. “ She’s an absolute force in this movie.” He also stars in Maude Apatow’s directorial debut “Poetic License,” which just premiered at Toronto, and upcoming HBO series “The Chair Company” with comedian Tim Robinson.

Price chatted with Sam Nivola at the bottom of the boutique’s staircase, while store architect Peter Marino made his way across the room. Other guests included Alexandria Daddario, Lux Pascal, Danielle Deadwyler, Kristin Davis, Ashley Park, Ariana Greenblatt, and more.
Just after 8 p.m., Priyanka Chopra, fresh from attending the Ralph Lauren show a few blocks north, made her way up to the boutique’s second floor. The actress was dressed in a periwinkle plaid Dior sweater accented with a branded bow.
“It was so hard for me to let go of summer,” said Chopra. “But then I saw this sweater and I was like, you know what? I’m ready. Fall, here I come.”
Chopra has worn Dior for many major life moments throughout the years, most memorably the custom red tulle Dior dress she wore for her wedding reception. ” It’s still one of my favorite pieces that I’ve ever worn,” she added. “When you have a piece, it lasts for a lifetime. And Jonathan’s just extending and pulling on that thread, but has his unique perspective.”
The actress will have plenty more sweater moments ahead, now that she and husband Nick Jonas are based in New York.
”My husband was on Broadway earlier this year, and then I’m filming a movie in India, so I fly back and forth a lot. And New York is just so much more central,” added Chopra. “So we both committed to it, and now we love it. And we are kind of being seduced by her and can’t leave.”
