Michelle Maciel, a regional Mexican music singer and songwriter, and one of the new pioneers blending corridos with more urban and electronic rhythms, has signed a deal with Warner Music Mexico, Billboard Español can announce exclusively today (Sept. 11).

The musician and influencer, known for songs like “el abcdario,” “No Sabía Qué,” and “CCC” alongside Edén Muñoz, is now part of the company’s roster, which also includes Mexican superstar and corridos tumbados creator Natanael Cano.

“I’m very happy because I’ve always wanted to work with Warner. Since the beginning of my career, I had dreamed of forming this partnership, and now I finally have the opportunity,” Maciel said in a press release. “I think we’ll do great things because there are extremely capable people here, with the heart and commitment required to make dreams come true.”

The desire for the artist to join Warner Music “was mutual,” the label stated in the release. “Michelle Maciel is an artist whose talent has caught our attention since the start of his career due to his versatility as a songwriter and performer,” added Tomás Rodríguez, president of Warner Music Mexico and Música Mexicana. “We are confident that Maciel’s arrival at Warner will allow us to solidify his career both in Mexico and in other territories.”

The collaboration between Maciel and the label has already resulted in the release of the single “Kushyvape,” which debuted on digital platforms a few days ago and is already trending on social media due to its powerful fusion of electronic music, trap, and reggaeton influences.

“The talent, creativity, discipline, and charisma of Mich make him a unique artist of his generation,” Alejandro Mejía Abad, general manager of Warner Music Mexico, says in the release. “In recent years, he has shown that through great songs framed within an authentic musical proposal, he can create strong connections with the Mexican audience, and we are very excited to contribute to what’s coming next and help take his career to the next level.”

Originally from the Mexican state of Sonora, Maciel, 26, rose to fame during the COVID-19 pandemic on TikTok, where he began sharing original songs. In 2024, he earned a Latin Grammy nomination for best contemporary Mexican music album with his debut LP, Trastornado. This year, he performed at the La Onda Festival in Napa Valley, California.
