Lokesh Kanagaraj is known for delivering high-octane drama and multi-starrer films, with intense fight scenes and power-packed music. His latest offering, Coolie, delivers no less. The film stars Rajinikanth as the protagonist, along with an ensemble of superstars from various Indian film industries. After surpassing the Rs. 500 crore worldwide collection mark, the film is now available to stream on a digital platform. However, as the Hindi version is yet to premiere, here’s when it might be released in that language.

Coolie, starring Rajinikanth, released on this OTT platform

Almost a month after its theatrical release, Coolie is available to stream on Amazon Prime starting from September 11, 2025. The film, originally made in Tamil, is available in this language as well as in Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada. The film’s storyline, which is set in the Indian city of Vishakhapatnam, has found a global audience and is available in over 200 countries on the digital platform.

When will Coolie release in Hindi?

Although there was excitement among people to see that Coolie had been released on OTT, it dampened when Hindi speakers realised that it wasn’t available in their language. The Rajinikanth-starrer film released in the four mentioned languages four weeks after it hit the theatres. However, according to a Koimoi report, Coolie‘s Hindi version may be released eight weeks after the theatrical run, that is, around October 9, 2025. The reason for this delay, particularly for the Hindi version, is unknown. As Coolie in Hindi is still being screened in cinema theatres, this might have caused the delay.

More about Coolie and its box office collection

Coolie, with a pan-Indian starcast, was released on August 14, 2025. The film starred Tamil superstar, Rajinikanth as a complex protagonist named ‘Deva’. Apart from Rajinikanth, Shruti Haasan, Hindi cinema’s Aamir KhanTelugu hero Nagarjuna Akkineni, and Malayalam cinema’s Soubin Shahir, among others, are also part of the film. The film clashed with War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR, which was released on the same day. The Loki Universe went toe-to-toe with YRF’s Spy Universe. The former emerged as the winner, as War 2 struggles to cross its high budget cost with its box office collection.

When Aamir Khan had said yes to Coolie without even reading the script

Aamir Khan, in an earlier interview with Zoom, had talked about his cameo as ‘Dahaa’ in Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Coolie. As a huge fan of Rajinikanth, Aamir said yes to the small cameo as soon as he heard that the ‘Thalaiva’ would be in the film. He agreed to it without even reading the script. In the same interview, the Bollywood actor revealed that he will also be doing another film with Lokesh, but with a bigger role. Aamir said in the interview:

“I’m also doing a film with Lokesh again. I mean a proper film. After he finishes Kaithi, he and I are doing a film together in the second half of next year. We are doing a film together.”
