Vice President JD Vance’s plane, Air Force Two, will transport conservative activist Charlie Kirk’s casket from Utah to Arizona, a day after Kirk was fatally shot during an appearance at Utah Valley University.Kirk, 31, a leading voice in the MAGA movement and co-founder of Turning Point USA, was shot in the neck on Thursday while addressing a large crowd during an event billed as “The American Comeback Tour.” The Vice President, a longtime friend of Kirk, eulogized him on X shortly after his death, highlighting his impact on the White House and the wider MAGA movement.“Much of the success we’ve seen in this administration stems directly from Charlie’s talent for organizing and bringing people together,” Vance wrote. “He didn’t just help us win in 2024—he played a key role in staffing the entire government.”A source familiar with the plans told The Hill that the Vances will first meet with Kirk’s family and close friends in Salt Lake City. The casket, along with family members and friends, will then be flown to Phoenix, Arizona, where Turning Point USA is headquartered. The Vances had originally been scheduled to fly to New York City to attend the 24th anniversary commemoration of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. They altered their plans to travel to Utah instead, with temporary flight restrictions issued in both areas Thursday to accommodate the Vice President’s movements.During their visit, the Vances are expected to meet with Kirk’s family and close friends. Following the meeting, the Air Force Two will carry Kirk’s casket and family to Arizona, where Kirk had lived and led his organisation.
