Indian rapper and singer Badshah is set to make an appearance at New York Fashion Week on Friday, adding another milestone to his growing global presence. The 39-year-old artist, who recently made his Paris Fashion Week debut with designer Mike Amiri, continues to merge music and fashion in ways that reflect his evolving artistic journey.

In an interview with Hindustan Times, Badshah shared how deeply fashion is connected to his personal and creative identity. “I thoroughly enjoy representing my culture, my people, and my art,” he said. “I’m always thinking about how I can inspire the kids to dream bigger and encourage fellow artists to take that leap of faith.” He added that the rise of hip-hop, especially in the Indian context, is helping redefine global perspectives. “The genre is evolving, becoming more inclusive, and the world is beginning to recognise that Indian voices have a place at the creative table,” he noted. “The future belongs to those who value collaboration and diversity.”
Badshah’s upcoming appearance at New York Fashion Week follows his memorable Paris debut earlier this year, where he attended the Amiri show and shared the front row with global names like J Balvin, French Montana, and Steve Harvey. “It felt like a dream,” he recalled. “There was a lot of excitement and some nervousness too. It was great to connect with so many creative people and be exposed to fresh perspectives.” Speaking about his collaboration with designer Mike Amiri, Badshah said, “Mike is a close friend, and I’ve always admired how he’s built his brand. This collaboration had been a long time coming.”
For Badshah, fashion has never been a secondary interest—it’s been a defining part of his brand from the beginning. “Fashion is not an accessory to my music; it’s part of the storytelling. It’s not just something I wear—it’s who I am,” he explained. Even while traveling across cities for his unfinished USA Tour, Badshah has continued to stay engaged with fashion. “There’s been no sleep since we landed in the US, but that’s what makes it exciting. I’ve followed a strict fitness and diet routine to maintain balance,” he said. “Let’s just say there are no days off in the life of a touring artist.”
His connection to fashion runs deep. “Fashion isn’t a byproduct of my career—it’s how I express myself authentically,” he said. “I’m passionate about it. I don’t usually work with stylists; I curate most of my looks myself. I travel often, which helps me discover new designers and labels, and I always keep an eye on the global fashion scene.” As Badshah steps onto the international fashion stage once again, he continues to bring his unique voice and vision to the world—not just through music, but through style and self-expression.
