Amid political unrest in Nepal, 38 Indians stranded in the country were safely brought back to India through the Raxaul border in Bihar with the assistance of the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu.

According to officials, the group included 22 people from Andhra Pradesh and 16 from Karnataka. They were guided across the Birgunj-Raxaul border by the Indian Consulate General in Birgunj and handed over to local authorities in Bihar.

On their return, the evacuees thanked the Indian Embassy and security agencies for ensuring their safe passage.

The Embassy of India in Kathmandu on Tuesday had issued emergency contact numbers for Indian nationals, advising them to get in touch for assistance or evacuation support.

Meanwhile, Nepalese security forces intensified patrols and imposed strict measures to restore order after days of violent demonstrations that forced Prime Minister K. P. Sharma Oli to resign. The Nepal Army, which took charge of security on Tuesday night following incidents of arson and vandalism, has enforced nationwide restrictive orders and a night curfew until 6 am Thursday.

Authorities have urged foreign nationals stranded in Nepal to contact the nearest security post or personnel for help, and requested hotels and tourism operators to extend necessary support.
