Security precautions for Bollywood superstar Salman Khan have been significantly reinforced on the sets of the reality show ‘Bigg Boss 19’. The development comes in response to threats the actor received earlier. Consequently, no live audience is now allowed during recording sessions when Khan is present.
Endemol Shine India, the production company behind ‘Bigg Boss’, has implemented stringent protocols. Rishi Negi, the company’s CEO, told Screen in an interview, “In the last two and a half years, we have beefed up security because of threats to Salman Khan. We don’t get live audiences on the show now when Salman Khan is there. Also, there is a very strict protocol about the people who come on the show. For everyone we hire, whether on a permanent basis, temporary, or vendor basis, we do a strict background check on them.”
Negi, a key figure in the production, also highlighted the logistical arrangements: “We have close to 600 people in our workforce. There are 3 shifts, and we work 24X7. There is fair representation of women in the workforce. When it comes to content security and on-ground logistics, we are absolutely uncompromising.”
In addition to the measures on the set, Khan has taken personal security steps. In October 2024, he purchased a bulletproof Nissan Patrol SUV, imported from Dubai to Mumbai, and installed bulletproof glass on his balcony.
The 19th season of ‘Bigg Boss’ is currently being aired. The show features a diverse group of contestants and continues to stream on JioHotstar and Colors TV. Despite the heightened security measures, the production team strives to deliver engaging content while ensuring the safety of all involved.
