According to the American Pregnancy Association, a retained placenta is one that has not been expelled after 30 minutes of delivery. “If a retained placenta is not treated, the mother is susceptible to both infection and extreme blood loss, which could be life-threatening,” their website states.
Kate also added, “I had low muscle tone, I could only walk like an old lady, really, for a long time. I had the up-and-down, hideous scar…that I had a tummy tuck to get rid of.”
