How the kids are handling Ben Affleck and J.Lo’s divorce

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez’s divorce was finalised a few months ago, in January 2025, just three years after their wedding in 2022. Though no longer husband and wife, the duo has a history of over two decades, and they have remained on friendly terms. The former couple have also made sure not to let their separation affect their kids, who have grown incredibly close over the years.

According to the latest updates from the ex-couple’s close sources, the kids are ‘still really close’ and get along well. Affleck and Lopez make sure that their children see each other and stay in touch all the time so that they never have to fear growing up in a broken home. An Affleck source told PEOPLE:

“The kids are still really close. They have the same groups of friends, they see each other, and they talk all the time. They make sure the kids know they get along. The most important thing to both of them is raising their kids in a supportive environment, so they plan to stay in each other’s lives.”

A Lopez source shares that the singer-actress has been a ‘great mom’ to both her and Affleck’s kids, and that aspect hasn’t changed. Despite their divorce, the Anaconda star makes sure the children get all the love and support. PEOPLE quoted the source as:

“She’s a great mom and always gave Ben’s kids the same love. Even though her contact with Ben is now more sporadic, they make sure the kids can spend time together whenever they want.”

J.Lo and the kids step out together

Just last week, Lopez was spotted in Beverly Hills shopping with her son, Emme (17), and former stepson, Samuel (13). On the morning of Saturday, September 7, 2025, the trio was seen browsing through some designer stores before grabbing lunch. Lopez, who was in cargo pants paired with a crop top and stiletto heels, was seen constantly keeping an eye on Samuel, just like she’s expected to do with her own child. 

Lopez herself recently opened up about navigating tough times with her children. Speaking to the Spanish outlet El País in May 2025, ahead of her world tour (July 8, 2025, to August 12, 2025), the Hustlers star revealed that she directly addressed her difficult time last year with her twins. Lopez shared:

“I said, ‘I promise you, this is a difficult time, but you’re going to see that I’ll come out the other side stronger and better.’ I promised them that, and I did it. And they feel it now. That gives me a great sense of peace in my life.”

Affleck, too, has publicly praised Lopez and her twins. During promotion for The Accountant 2, he called her kids ‘Amazing’ and admitted he’s grateful they continue to support him.
