At the 2025 US Open final, former tennis star Eugenie Bouchard added a touch of humour to the intense rivalry between Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner. Known for her witty social media presence, Bouchard shared her observations of the players’ warm-up routines ahead of the match.

Commenting on their preparations, Bouchard playfully predicted an Alcaraz victory, saying, “Saw the players’ warm-ups in the gym before the match on TV. Based on this, I am predicting Alcaraz. I’ll reveal my theory only if he wins.”
On Sunday, Alcaraz had the final laugh, defeating the defending champion Sinner 6–2, 3–6, 6–1, 6–4 in two hours and 42 minutes at a packed Centre Court. After the match, Bouchard reposted a video of the players’ training sessions with the caption: “Because of this.”
Earlier this year, Bouchard announced her retirement from professional tennis at age 31 following a three-set loss to Belinda Bencic at the 2025 National Bank Open in Montreal. In 2014, she made history by becoming the first Canadian to reach a Grand Slam singles final, finishing runner-up at Wimbledon after a 6–3, 6–0 defeat to Petra Kvitova.
