Actor Sanjay Dutt recently opened up about a disturbing experience from his time in prison, during an appearance on The Great Indian Kapil Show with close friend Suniel Shetty. Reflecting on his five-year sentence linked to the case about possession of arms, the actor shared a moment that, even years later, remains vivid in his memory.

Dutt described an incident where he was asked to shave off his beard, and a fellow inmate was assigned to help him. What unsettled him was learning that the man, named Mishra, was a double murder convict. “He was holding a razor near my neck,” Sanjay recalled. When asked how long he had been in prison, Mishra replied, “Fifteen years,” and added he was in for “double murder.” Dutt admitted he instinctively grabbed the man’s hand to stop him, calling it “just another day in jail.”
Despite such moments, Sanjay said he holds no regrets about his life—except for losing his parents too soon. He spoke fondly of his father Sunil Dutt, who passed away in 2005, and his mother Nargis, who died in 1981 just before his debut film Rocky released.
Dutt served time under the Arms Act for possession of illegal weapons and was eventually released early for good behaviour. During his time at Yerwada jail, he hosted a prison radio show that was well-received by fellow inmates.
On the professional front, Sanjay Dutt was last seen in Baaghi 4, alongside Tiger Shroff, Harnaaz Kaur Sandhu, and Sonam Bajwa, which released last Friday. He will next appear in The Raja Saab with Prabhas, scheduled for release on October 2, 2025. Following that, he stars in Dhurandar with Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, and R. Madhavan, which is set to hit theatres on December 5, 2025.
