Bollywood actor Raveena Tandon recently shared a heartfelt video on her Instagram account, showcasing her visit to India’s oldest Ganpati pandal—the historic Shrimant Bhausaheb Rangari Ganpati in Pune. The clip captures Raveena performing the aarti at the pandal, accompanied by her “very special guest”—her beloved pet dog.

In the video, she offers a glimpse of the venue, now converted into a museum, and is seen singing a bhajan, playing the manjira, and clapping with her eyes closed as she stands near the altar. Raveena also performs prayers and chants mantras. She applies a tika on her own forehead and, in an adorable moment, “rubbed some on her dog, who joined her at the venue.”

Accompanying the post, Raveena pens, “And as we bid farewell to Bappa, I was lucky to get the opportunity to visit the first ever Ganpati ji Pandal, which was started by Shrimant Bhausahab Rangari ji, whom we owe a lot to. Our braveheart freedom fighters who used to meet in this very house, beautifully restored by Shri @punitbalan ji, whom I’m very thankful to for inviting me for Darshan.” She continues, “The house, now converted into a museum, was so fascinating to read the history behind the very origin of the Ganpati visarjan rituals and the reasons behind. So important for our children to visit these places and learn about the importance of our culture. A fruitful day with a very special guest who@got blessed by Bappa a devotees puppy, who@the Teeka from me (smiley and red heart emojis).”

Adding context, the Shrimant Bhausaheb Rangari Ganpati Mandal was established in 1892 by Bhausahab Rangari and is recognized as India’s first public Ganesh Mandal, paralleling one set up in Mumbai the same year.

Speaking to the media after her darshan, Raveena expressed a broader sentiment: “I have prayed to Lord Ganesha that all the people of our country, and I am not only talking about humans, but all living beings, remain safe,” underscoring her inclusive prayer for well-being.
