In her post, Urmila described Rangeela as much more than a film, calling it “a feeling woven with intense joy, hope, dreams, ambition, beauty, zest, affection, admiration, love and desire, struggle and triumph, sacrifice, and above all, a grand celebration of life.”

She added that every scene of the Ram Gopal Varma directorial still evokes childlike joy, transporting audiences into a world of innocence and wonder. Highlighting the depth of A.R. Rahman’s music, she said the songs represented the Navrasa—the nine emotions of Indian literature and poetry: śṛṅgāra (love), hāsya (laughter), karuṇā (sorrow), raudra (anger), vīra (courage), bhayānaka (fear), bībhatsa (disgust), adbhuta (wonder), and śānta (peace).

Calling herself “an innocent girl who walked onto the silver screen,” Urmila thanked fans for embracing her performance as Mili, a role that continues to be celebrated even after three decades. “Thank you for letting me be a part of your lives, for embracing me with so much love, and for putting me in a place that only a few can even dare to dream of,” she wrote.

Her heartfelt tribute concluded with a toast to love, life, and laughter: “Cheers to love, life n laughter!!! Ho ja Rangeela re…”

    Fans React with Love

The post instantly drew admiration from fans, many of whom praised her timeless charm. Comments like “Omg still look same ma’am… my favourite songs in the 90s” and “Please must come back to the film industry” reflected the emotional connection audiences still share with her. Another fan wrote, “Woww!! Nobody can beat your charm. My favourite since childhood.” Actress Dia Mirza also joined in, commenting, “Loved you then, love you more now.”

Released in 1995, Rangeela became a landmark film in Hindi cinema, remembered for its refreshing storytelling, A.R. Rahman’s chart-topping soundtrack, and Urmila’s breakthrough performance. The film, which also starred Aamir Khan and Jackie Shroff, remains an enduring part of Bollywood’s cultural memory.
