Rukmini Vasanth, known for her role in ‘Kantara’, recently reflected on the phenomenal success of ‘Sapta Saagaradaache Ello’ at the India Today Conclave South 2025. In a conversation, the actor, who is the daughter of an Army officer martyred in the line of duty, also spoke about her efforts to support war widows and the personal resonance such initiatives hold for her.
Touching upon the portrayal of women in cinema, Rukmini addressed issues such as eve-teasing and the frequent oversexualisation of female characters. She emphasised that it’s not just about one problematic scene, but rather about how women are depicted across the narrative. “It’s about the larger picture,” she noted, highlighting the need for more nuanced and respectful storytelling. The actor also shared her thoughts on collaborating with industry heavyweights like Yash and Rishab Shetty in films such as ‘Toxic’ and ‘Kantara’, describing the experience as creatively fulfilling and inspiring.
