Stargazers worldwide enjoyed a spectacular show this weekend as the second total lunar eclipse of the year took place. The event took place when Earth stood exactly in line with the Sun and the Moon, casting its shadow on the Moon’s surface. This brought about the dazzling “Blood Moon,” as the Moon blazed with hues of red and copper at the height of totality.
This eclipse was especially favourable for observers in Asia, where conditions were perfect. India, China, and Japan saw clear skies, and millions of people experienced the whole course of the eclipse. Sky gazers in Europe also had dramatic views of the event, though cloudy weather in some parts of the continent.
